POSITION PURPOSE
The Business Intelligence Lead will be accountable for setting a vision for Business Intelligence and helping to guide in the development and enforcement of the vision of business intelligence across the entire organization. This includes interfacing with the end users, IT Business Applications Analysts and Report Developers to develop a consistent architecture and deliver on the business demands. In addition, the lead will need to be responsible for the BI Architecture and act as a BI Architect. The individual must be well versed in backend modeling as well as being able to translate requirements into that model and explaining the pros and cons for the model. The Lead will also be responsible for developing and enforcing the processes associated within the IT development team. This can be an exciting opportunity to take on not only more of a leadership position and deliver results that allows the business to improve their decision making process, but also to take on this initiative across an Enterprise BI implementation. This role will not be a typical dedicated BI Lead role. Because of our size, this individual must be willing to perform a number of roles including BI Architect, report developer, and provide training to end users. We are looking for a leader, who has strong drive, can take initiative and has a clear vision for BI and how the tools can be leveraged to meet that vision.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Responsible for defining and implementing working processes for a newly developed BI department
· Thorough understanding of Data Warehouse and Business Intelligence best practices is required
· Work with both functional and technical project personnel, providing in-depth knowledge of BI information delivery/presentation methodology
· Strong ability to extract and document requirements from end users, including leading requirements gathering workshops
· Develop and enforce a Business Intelligence/BusinessObjects Strategy and Architecture including System Design
· Provide leadership in developing a design for Business Warehouse, BusinessObjects Web Intelligence Reports, Universes and Xcelsius dashboards to the BI developers.
· Resolution of any BW implementation issues as well as integration issues of BW with other systems.
· Provide general assistance, advice, and critiques to various team members as well as management personnel regarding such matters as new or improved system design, testing and implementation techniques, documentation adequacy, user acceptance testing, and application efficiency/integrity
· Lead project planning sessions with project managers, business analysts and team members to analyze business requirements and outline the proposed solution
· The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills (verbal and written), strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and attention to accuracy and detail.
EXPERIENCE
· Proven track record of Implementing and maintaining BI as a BI Architect & Lead.
· Proven track record of implementing best practices and processes into an organization
· Willingness to perform development activities
· 8 years of experience in analysis, design, development, customization, implementation, and installation of software applications and BI tools.
· Architecting background on at least three full life cycle BW/BOBJ Implementations for medium to large projects of high complexity.
· Designing, modeling, and building data structures and data mapping routines in SAP BW to support the data and reporting requirements for all areas of the organization
· Needs to participate in high level planning and design discussion with Business Analysts. Must be able to architect a data model, as required to reflect the business needs
· In-depth development experience with SAP BW, including ODS, Info Cube, MultiProvider, and BEx query development
· Hands-on development experience with Business Objects WebI, Universe Designer, Live Office, Crystal Reports, Query as a Web Service, LifeCycle Manager(LCM),and Xcelsius
· 8+ yrs of experience with BusinessObjects
· 8+ years experience working in Data Warehousing and Business Intelligence.
· Experience with SAP BW, ABAP, NetWeaver and other Functional modules.
· Strong Experience with one or more SAP modules such as FI/CO, PP, MM, PM, APO and/or SD.
· Experience being a trainer of SAP BusinessObjects
· Extensive experience with advanced development concepts such as data modeling, SQL queries, cardinality, complex joins, loop detection, prompting, performance tuning, row level security, etc.
· Migration experience between two or more major versions of BusinessObjects
· Ability to translate business requirements into technical deliverables.
· Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
· Clear communication skills and the ability to align priorities and reach consensus in meetings is a must
EDUCATION / CERTIFICATIONS
· Bachelor's degree is required. Degree in Engineering, MIS/Computer Science, or a related field is strongly preferred.
· Preferred - BOCP (BusinessObjects Certified Professional) and/or related Pearson VUE certification(s).
· Preferred - Certified in SAP BW.
